The following websites will help you with your research on corporal punishment:
SAM's Position Paper defines corporal punishment as "intentional application of physical pain as a method of changing behavior", and lists some forms of it as "hitting, slapping, punching, kicking" and several other forms. The Paper goes on to give corporal punishment's historical background, a brief discussion of where and how often it occurs in the U. S., and an assessment of national law regarding corporal punishment. The Paper also makes its case against this form of punishment, advancing the argument that violence is the message sent by corporal punishment. The Paper also offers its alternatives to corporal punishment.
A resource for parents, students, educators, education policymakers, healthcare providers, children's advocates, and all others who are concerned with the safety and wellbeing of children.
This is part of a global initiative to end corporal punishment of children around the world. The aims are endorsed by UNICEF and UNESCO. The site includes research on the topic, news and links to related websites.
“The Center for Effective Discipline (CED) is a non-profit organization which provides educational information to the public on the effects of corporal punishment of children and alternatives to its use.” The site includes legal and religious information on the subject as well as the latest news.

The National PTA, the largest volunteer child advocacy group in the U. S., opposes corporal punishment as a policy in schools. This site offers a listing of prevalent beliefs or "myths" about school corporal punishment and then briefly "debunks" each one. Example: To the "myth" that "corporal punishment is used only as a last resort", the "reality" is asserted to be that "corporal punishment is often the first response even for minor infractions".

CINAHL provides indexing for over 500 journals in nursing and other allied health disciplines.
ERIC
ERIC, the Educational Resource Information Center contains more than 2,200 digests along with references for additional information and citations and abstracts from over 980 educational and education-related journals.
