Centers for Disease Control and Prevention: Smoking/Tobacco Control
This site includes information on tobacco production and consumption as well as national statistics. Search using tobacco as your search term.
Health Issues - Tobacco
The American Council on Science and Health site includes current information, articles and editorials as well as archived material on the dangers of smoking.
American Lung Association
Search "Diseases A to Z" for causes and treatment of asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema, lung cancer, pneumonia, tuberculosis, and other types of lung disease. "Air Quality" Fact Sheets provide information about radon, asbestos, carbon monoxide, and their effect on air quality in terms of lung health. Other topics include secondhand smoke (passive smoking). Search in English or Spanish.
Second-hand Smoke
The Legacy Tobacco Documents library includes information about the tobacco industry and passive smoking. It also includes other pages on merchandising, legislation, and political action in California.

Clinical Pharmacology provides access to information for prescription drugs, herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new and investigational drugs. CINAHL provides indexing for over 500 journals in nursing and other allied health disciplines.

Health Source: Consumer Edition offers information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Has full text for nearly 300 journals.
CINAHL Plus with Full Text
Provides complete coverage of the professional literature in nursing, 14 allied health disciplines and health sciences librarianship. In addition, there are over 560 journals in full text.
Medline
Search abstracts from over 4,600 biomedical journals for information on medicine, nursing, dentistry, veterinary medicine, the health care system, pre-clinical sciences, and much more.
National Newspapers (1985- current)

Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World
Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
