  • NCAA Online
    The official site for the National Collegiate Athletic Association, including its policies on drugs and drug testing, gambling, and recruitment, as well as information on sports medicine, rankings, statistics, and other issues relating to sport and athletes.
  • Shape Up America!
    This organization, established by C. Everett Koop, former Surgeon General of the U.S. focuses on decreasing obesity, stressing simple changes in diet and exercise habits that easily acquired. There's even a kitchen (Cyberkitchen) to help you balance meals with physical activity. You can determine where your weight is by getting your Body Mass Index at the BMI Center. Then you can go on to determine your fitness level and suggested physical activities.


  • Srength Training Muscle Map
    This site "includes an anatomical map and a detailed explanation of each major muscle group, its exact location, functions and common activities that the muscle is used for, and the best strength training exercises for that muscle." Requires QuickTime plug-in to display some of its contents. Part of a larger Global-Fitness site. 
  • American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM)
    ACSM "promotes and integrates scientific research, education, and practical applications of sports medicine and exercise science to maintain and enhance physical performance, fitness, health, and quality of life." At the Web site, view guidelines for healthy aerobic activity, calculate your exercise heart rate range, locate an ACSM-certified health professional in your area, and view a brochure about Careers in Sports Medicine and Exercise Science. 
  • Yang Style Tai Chi
    An exploration of Tai chi, a "moving form of yoga and meditation combined." This site provides an explanation for this Chinese form of exercise, its history, and the various styles and forms. Information is included discussing Taoism, or the philosophy behind Tai Chi. There are also related links.

Regional Business News
Regional Business News provides full text coverage for regional business publications. Includes coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States.
Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier
Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975.
CINAHL Plus with Full Text
Provides complete coverage of the professional literature in nursing, 14 allied health disciplines and health sciences librarianship. In addition, there are over 560 journals in full text.
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
Provides coverage of nearly 550 full text journals, covering topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.
National Newspapers (1985- current)
Local, regional and national news coverage from selected newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Denver Post, USA Today, Christian Science Monitor.
Newspaper Source Plus
