Websites on adoption

The following websites will help you with your research on adoption:
"The Clearinghouse is a national resource for information on all aspects of adoption for professionals, policy makers, and the general public. Clearinghouse services include technical assistance to professionals and policy makers, a library collection, publications, databases on adoption resources, and information on Federal and State legislation." Offers information on such sensitive topics as offering children for adoption, access to birth records for adoptees, and access to birth records for birth relatives.
The Bureau of Consular Affairs offers information on intercountry adoptions. Gives updates on current adoption hotspots such as Cambodia and Guatemala. Offers country-specific general information  for American citizens contemplating adoption of children from the countries listed, such as availability of children, legal requirements, and adoption procedures.
The Booklet advises on what the St ate Department can and cannot do in cases of international adoption. It offers guidelines on the process and procedures; a review of the foreign adoption process; discussions of procedures such as the visa interview, medical exams, and resolution of questions regarding the U. S. citizenship status of the adopted child. 
Comprehensive information on many approaches to adoption, such as use of lawyers or agencies; intercountry adoptions; and special needs/"waiting children" adoptions.

National Newspapers (1985- current)
Local, regional and national news coverage from selected newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Denver Post, USA Today, Christian Science Monitor.
Newspaper Source Plus
Provides selected full text for many U.S. and international newspapers. The database also contains full text television & radio news transcripts, and selected full text for more than 800 U.S. regional newspapers.
Health Source
Health Source: Consumer Edition offers information on many health topics including the medical sciences, food sciences and nutrition, childcare, sports medicine and general health. Has full text for nearly 300 journals.
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
Provides coverage of nearly 550 full text journals, covering topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.
Encyclopedia Americana
Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
Encyclopedia, Funk and Wagnalls New World
Provides over 25,000 encyclopedic entries covering a variety of subject areas.
