Contraceptive guide by Mary Jane Bovo, M.D.
A straightforward, well designed guide to current methods of birth control and contraception. Covers: abstinence, condoms-male, implants, lactational amenorrhea method, spermicides, what doesn't work, sexually transmitted diseases, cervical cap, diaphragm, injections, natural family planning, the sponge, safe sex, the sexual woman, condoms-female, emergency contraception, IUD, the pill, sterilization-female, and the sexual man. Also includes a contraceptive guide contents and birth control newsletter section.
MedlinePlus – Birth Control
A site maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine and the National Institutes of Health. It includes links to many sites with useful information on the subject of birth control. Sections include: "Latest News"; "General/Overviews"; "Clinical Trials"; "Research"; "Statistics"; etc.
Family Planning Program – Birth Control
A project of the Public Health Dept. of Seattle WA. This site offers information on a variety of birth control methods as well as information about safe sex and STDs. The birth control information is also available in detailed brochure format online.
Center for Reproductive Rights
This site provides information pertaining to laws, legislation, and opportunities to take action on issues such as abortion rights, availability of contraception, teenagers' rights, and female genital mutilation. Reports, fact sheets, and articles are available. The site is searchable, and portions of it are also available in French and Spanish.
Planned Parenthood
“Planned Parenthood is America’s leading sexual and reproductive health care advocate and provider.” This section of the site offers an easy to use guide to various birth control methods.
Feminist Women’s Health Center – Birth Control Comparisons
The Feminist Women's Health Center “is a non-profit organization that promotes and protects a woman's right to choose and receive reproductive health care.” There is information on birth control methods with links to a birth control comparison chart.
Not-2-Late.com: The Emergency Contraception Website
This site "is designed to provide accurate information about emergency contraception derived from the medical literature." Includes emergency contraception brands (morning after pills and the copper-T intrauterine device (IUD)) available in different countries, news, providers in the U.S. and parts of Canada, and a FAQ. Available in English, French, Arabic, and Spanish. From the Office of Population Research at Princeton University and the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals.
Population Action International (PAI)
PAI promotes "policies and programs that slow world population growth" by expanding "voluntary family planning ... and educational and economic opportunities for girls and women." The Politics of Population Assistance section includes a Congressional directory, voting records on population issues, and tips for communicating with members of Congress. PAI studies and fact sheets (many available at the Web site) address topics ranging from U.S. funding for the United Nations Population Fund to women's reproductive health to the link between human overpopulation and the extinction of other species. Useful material for educators and population control advocates.

Nursing Resources
Health Source: Nursing/Academic Edition provides more than 550 scholarly full text journals focusing on many medical disciplines and also features abstracts and indexing for nearly 850 journals. Clinical Pharmacology provides access to information for prescription drugs, herbal and nutritional supplements, over-the-counter products and new and investigational drugs. CINAHL provides indexing for over 500 journals in nursing and other allied health disciplines.
Academic Search Premier, MasterFile Premier
Academic Search Premier and MasterFile Premier provide full text for over 6200 periodicals including full text for more than 3,500 peer-reviewed journals. Coverage spans virtually every area of academic study and offers information dating as far back as 1975.
Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection
Provides coverage of nearly 550 full text journals, covering topics such as emotional and behavioral characteristics, psychiatry & psychology, mental processes, anthropology, and observational and experimental methods.
National Newspapers (1985- current)
Local, regional and national news coverage from selected newspapers, including the Los Angeles Times, New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, Atlanta Journal-Constitution, Boston Globe, Chicago Tribune, Denver Post, USA Today, Christian Science Monitor.
Encyclopedia Americana
Includes 45,000 articles, plus thousands of hypertext links to web sites featuring additional data. It is updated quarterly.
